Who ever reads device manuals anyway? Well, someone must’ve read at least 5 pages of the Apple iPhone 4 Product Information Guide to find that you are requested to hold it 15mm (5/8″) away from your body. Who knew?
The iPhone 4 manual:
“When using iPhone near your body for voice calls or for wireless data transmission over a cellular network, keep iPhone at least 15 mm (5/8 inch) away from the body, and only use carrying cases , belt clips, or holders that do not have metal parts and that maintain at least 15 mm (5/8″) separation between iPhone and the body.”
Reviews have shown that holding the phone this far from your ear significantly reduces the ability to hear the person on the other end.
Is this a cause for alarm? Probably not. Is it strange? You bet.
